Keyframe Refurb
The keyframe is the foundation of the action. It’s where the keys are held in place and how the height and depth of the keys are adjusted. With age and use, multiple components of it deteriorate, such as the felt that the keys rest on, are balanced on, and contact when the keys are depressed. The pins that hold the keys in place also wear and sometimes corrode, introducing unwanted friction to the action. Restoring these components vastly improves the foundation on which all other adjustments are made.

Seen here are new felt, paper, and cardboard punchings under the keys, as well as completely new red key rest felt under the ends of the keys.

The old key rest felt was completely removed and the wooden frame scraped clean before the new layers of felt were installed.
